Q. What is permanent makeup?
A. Permanent makeup is cosmetic tattooing. Also referred to as micro-pigmentation and derma-pigmentation. The makeup is applied by depositing coloured pigment into the dermis of the skin to produce results that resemble makeup. Results can look like topically applied cosmetics or can be quite unnoticeable, depending upon the design, colour value and amount of pigment used.
Q. How long will permanent makeup last?
A. Permanent makeup is long lasting, but will fade over time, depending on the client's skin type, sun exposure, etc. Most colours last 1 to 5 years, with the darker colours lasting the longest. Periodic touchups are recommended to maintain the desired look.
Q. Is it safe?
A. Client safety and cleanliness is my top priority . All needles are sterile and disposed of after each use.
Q. Am I a good candidate for permanent makeup?
A. If your skin and body are relatively healthy and you meet the minimum age requirements, you are a good candidate for permanent makeup. If you suffer from sensitivities, allergies, have a hard time seeing yourself in the mirror to apply makeup, or lead a busy outdoor life, you can benefit from permanent makeup. No more worrying about your eyebrows disappearing when you go for a swim!
Q. Is it painful?
A. I use high quality topical anesthetics which significantly reduces discomfort. People with sensitive skin may experience more discomfort, but find the procedure still tolerable.
Q. How long will the procedure take to heal?
A. Typically, there may be some swelling and redness for 24 hours following the procedure. A cold, clean compress from the refrigerator, not freezer, helps to reduce any swelling around the eye area. Outer healing occurs in 4 to 10 days with final results in approx. 4-6 weeks.
Q. What will I look like right after the procedure?
A. The colour intensity of your procedure will be initially 30 - 40% darker than what is expected for the final outcome. There may be some slight redness and or swelling for the first 24 hours.
Q. Can I have a consultation and the procedure the same day? And how long will it take?
A. Yes you may. During the consultation, we will discuss the best colour, shape and design for the procedure. Once you feel confident and comfortable with the design, I will proceed with the application. You should be prepared to spend 2 - 2.5 hours as discussion, design, topical application of anaesthetic, and the actual procedure all take time.
Q. Can I get permanent makeup if I am pregnant/nursing?
A. No. Due to hormonal imbalances, which will affect the outcome, general sensitivities, as well as the topical anesthetic, permanent makeup is not advised.
